Aussies love to drive. In fact, according to ABS statistics, we have the 4th highest number of cars per capita in the world.
There are plenty of options to refuel for your standard car however, when you come to stay @bellevuebb and planning on exploring The Fleurieu Peninsula in your electric car your options to recharge, isn’t an easy task.
With this in mind we have compiled a list of charging stations in the McLaren Vale Wine Region and on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
First up is there are three electric vehicle charging stations in the carpark of the McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Visitor Information Centre. (just a 2 minute drive from Bellevue Bed & Breakfast)
The chargers are currently free to use and include two e-station Circontrol type 1 charging stations — compatible with all cars (type 2 cars will require an adaptor) — and one Tesla type 2 station for Tesla vehicles.
While you at the centre why not call in and speak with the volunteers to help you plan your day, have a coffee, check out the art gallery or visit the Vale Cru @ ValeCruMcLarenVale for a wine tasting and make a few purchases.

Located just 2 minutes’ drive from Bellevue Bed & Breakfast is the Tesla charging station at Maxwell Wines.
The station has 2 Tesla Connectors, up to 22kW.
While your car is charging why not head to the cellar door where you can purchase a wine and a cheeseboard then you can relax in the picnic grounds before you explore the maze. Make sure you have a look at their gorgeous bees that are instrumental for the equally delicious MEADS!

On Malpas Road, a mere 8 minute drive from Bellevue Bed & Breakfast is Fox Creek Wine. These guys have installed 2 Tesla Connectors, up to 22kW.
Fox Creek have reopened their Cellar Door for tastings in addition to sales. However, things are a little different due to government restrictions, which is why they require bookings for wine tastings, as spaces will be limited with reduced numbers allowed in the Cellar Door at one time.

Just over 6km away from Bellevue Bed & Breakfast is Chapel Hill Wines. They have 2 Tesla Connectors, up to 14kW.
You will be pleased to know that Chapel Hill have reopened for tastings. All tastings will be seated, so you get the luxury of sitting back and relaxing as the team bring the wine to you
They will be offering their standard curated tasting experience. However, the popular Icon tasting experience will be back soon.
You are on the edge of the amazing Onkaparinga River National Park – so feel a little virtuous by going for a wander before your indulge!

As you are out exploring the Fleurieu Peninsula your electric car many need a charge then a visit to the Myponga Hall on Hansen Street (just 22 minutes from Bellevue Bed & Breakfast) should see you right as they have a Tesla Connector, up to 22kW
Close to the Myponga Hall is the is the Myponga Reservoir Reserve. The Reserve is ideal for walking and running with plenty of room to enjoy a picnic. You can also head to the lookout to take in the scenic surrounds.
Walking, running & cycling
The 3.3km (approx.) loop track on the south east side of the reservoir takes you through open plains, forested areas and native vegetation. The unsealed trail is a shared-use path for both cyclists & walkers.
Picnicking
There are several picnic tables along the trail and you’re welcome to pack a picnic basket complete with a blanket or chairs so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the view.
Birds and wildlife
Take some time and see if you can spot some of the special species that call Myponga home. More than 120 bird species live in the area including some that enjoy life by the water and others that can be found inland. You can also watch for native animals, lizards and listen for frogs.

Strathalbyn is only a short 45 minute drive from Bellevue Bed & Breakfast.
The visitor information centre has charging station. You will need the Nextcharge app to activate the station and a J1772/type 2 adapter for Ioniq, Tesla 3 etc 🙂
While in Strathalbyn unearth the quaint, country-style markets, boutique shops and beautiful heritage buildings in the historic main streets, enjoy brunch at one of the many cafes and restaurants or stroll through the picturesque parklands on the banks of the River Angas.
Strathalbyn is the gateway to the boutique Langhorne Creek wine region and Fleurieu Peninsula, venture further afield to some of the state’s most breathtaking beaches or sample the region’s award-winning wine at many of the cellar doors.

The Bremerton cellar door, originally built in 1866 from local limestone and timbers, was the barn and stables for the Bremerton Lodge Homestead. The Willson family carefully restored the buildings in 1994 to blend timelessly with the winery. The Cellar Door is right in the heart of the Langhorne Creek
